Following their 2024 shortlisting for Employer of the Year the team are thrilled to go one-better in 2025 receiving the Bronze Award in the national Accounting Excellence Awards.
The Accounting Excellence Awards, the most prestigious awards in the UK accountancy sector, celebrate exceptional achievements across a wide range of categories, recognising outstanding accounting firms, individuals, teams, and projects. Every category is highly competitive and entries are reviewed by a panel of experts and senior professionals, representing a broad spectrum of specialisms both within and beyond the accounting profession.
In a fiercely contested category the firm was praised for not only having Values in place, but for the emphasis the business places on these values to help shape its positive workplace culture. The Gooding Accounts Values – Be present, Challenge yourself, Be thoughtful and Be a Team – are credited by the entire team for fostering internal relationships and providing a safe space for the team to celebrate successes and highlight areas for improvement.
The firm was also praised for its ongoing commitment to training and development. With an established training programme and mentoring scheme in place our associate accountants have achieved not only outstanding exam success but also awards success. Associate accountant Lara being awarded TBE’s Rising Star Award at the end of 2024 and exam results for all entries being over 88% (to September 2024). The introduction of ongoing 1-2-1 business coaching for senior level staff was also credited for promoting confidence and helping them understand how to work more effectively together and with their teams. The headline generated by the team following a whole-team coaching session was ‘Gooding Accounts is an outstanding team’ surely a tag-line to be proud of!
The judges were also impressed with Gooding Accounts clear pathway for career development, giving the firm’s ambitious team direction and providing them opportunities for the future. The firm was also commended for recognising that not all team members aspire to senior roles, and for valuing the contribution of every single individual.
The move to Holloway House in July 2025 was viewed positively, reflecting the firm’s drive to provide a high-quality workspace for the team—surely laying the foundation for even greater future success.
