We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Trainee Accountant to support our team with a variety of financial tasks while pursuing professional qualifications. You will be assisting with the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts for a range of clients, including companies, partnerships, and sole traders. You will develop practical skills in bookkeeping, VAT reporting, and the use of accounting software while working under the supervision of qualified accountants.

You will also support the smooth running and continued growth of the business through the following key areas of responsibility:

 Client Relations:

  •  Engage in direct client interaction to build strong relationships and rapport.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to delivering a positive client experience by actively participating in client interactions and supporting the team in maintaining strong client relationships.

 Bookkeeping and VAT:

  •  Perform bookkeeping duties and assist with VAT reporting.
  • Manage invoices, input income and expense entries, and reconcile accounts.

Tax Compliance:

  •  Support the preparation of various tax returns, including corporation tax, partnership, and personal tax.
  • Develop an understanding of tax legislation and its application to different business structures.

 Financial Statement Preparation:

  •  Assist in preparing financial statements for companies, partnerships, sole traders, and LLPs under supervision.
  • Learn to interpret financial data and contribute to the reporting process.

 Software Proficiency:

  • Develop knowledge of various accounting software packages.
  • Keep up-to-date with advancements in accounting technology and software updates.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Assist in liaising with HM Revenue & Customs.
  • Develop an understanding of regulatory requirements and deadlines.

Professional Development:

  • Pursue and complete the AAT qualification with full support and funding from the company.
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training and development opportunities.

 To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade B / 6 or above (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable attitude.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop a career in accountancy.
  • Willingness to balance work commitments with AAT study requirements.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (desirable).

 Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time office-based position, Monday to Friday
  • Permanent role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Trainee Payroll Technician to join our payroll team and work towards becoming a qualified payroll professional. You’ll gain hands-on experience processing payrolls, managing pensions, liaising with HMRC, and supporting clients—all while studying towards the Level 3 Payroll Technician Certificate with the CIPP, fully funded and supported by the company.

You will support the smooth running and continued growth of the business through the following key areas of responsibility:

Payroll Administration:

  • Assist in preparing and processing weekly and monthly payrolls for a range of clients
  • Learn to calculate wages, statutory deductions, and process new starters and leavers
  • Enter payroll data accurately using BrightPay and BrightPay Connect

 Compliance and Liaison:

  • Support HMRC submissions and gain an understanding of PAYE and payroll legislation
  • Learn to prepare Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines

Pension & Auto-Enrolment:

  • Help administer workplace pensions and auto-enrolment processes
  • Maintain accurate pension contribution records and support client queries

 Reporting & Record-Keeping:

  • Assist in generating payroll reports and summaries for clients and internal use
  • Support the maintenance of clear and accurate payroll documentation
  • Follow GDPR and confidentiality protocols

 Client Service:

  • Help respond to client queries by phone and email
  • Participate in building strong relationships through timely, professional communication
  • Contribute to meeting client expectations and payroll deadlines

 Professional Development:

  • Undertake the CIPP Level 3 Payroll Technician Certificate with study time provided
  • Actively engage in on-the-job training and mentoring
  • Apply new knowledge to real-world scenarios and grow into your role

 To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade B / 6 or above (or equivalent)
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing a career in payroll
  • Willingness to balance work and study as part of the CIPP qualification
  • Previous administrative experience (desirable but not essential)

  • This is a full-time office-based position, Monday to Friday
