Bookkeeper

Based in our Warminster Office
We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing various accounting tasks. The ideal candidate has experience with accounts payable and is proficient in Cloud accounting software, specifically QuickBooks & Xero. We’ll consider applications for both part-time and full-time hours.

About you

The ideal candidate will be qualified. However, part qualified candidates will also be considered as will those qualified by experience. We are looking for someone who is able to:

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, mangers, directors, and team members
  • Take an interest in our clients’ strategic and commercial, and personal objectives
  • Work under pressure with attention to detail
  • Manage a portfolio of clients; maintaining client focus which would include client meetings and regular communications

Desired attributes

  • At least 1 years’ worth of Bookkeeping experience on Cloud Accounting Software (Quickbooks & Xero)
  • Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • Adaptable, keen and flexible approach
  • Punctual and attentive – able to support a busy team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to prioritise a very busy workload and work effectively under pressure
  • Professional telephone manner

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate bank payments and receipts & carry out bank reconciliations
  • Timely completion of VAT returns
  • Preparing monthly CIS returns
  • Check that transactions are accurate and error free
  • Complete checklists for month end and year end, ensuring all relevant paperwork is attached
  • Produce up to date Management Accounts
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with clients and other members of the team
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and/or the management team

Preferred Skill set:

  • Practice experience preferred but not necessary
  • Possess relevant experience, or specialist qualifications such as AAT
  • Appropriate knowledge of VAT schemes

We are looking for someone who is able to learn and perform the following tasks:

  • Bookkeeping and VAT reporting.
  • Develop knowledge of various accounting software packages and keeping up to date with various packages.
  • Direct client interaction to build strong client relationships and rapport
  • Liaise with H M Revenue & Customs.
