Companies House identity verification is a new legal requirement that has now come into effect. From 18th November 2025 all company directors and PSCs will need to verify their identity with Companies House either digitally or by supplying evidence of identity via the Post Office. Companies House hope the new process will reduce the risk of fraud, improve transparency and help to deter people intending to use companies for illegal purposes.
If you still haven’t verified you identity it’s important that you do so as soon as possible – you can find more information and download the step-by-step guide.
With deadline for verification now passed it appears that Companies House are still having some issues with their systems and processing these records.
IMPORTANT: If you receive an email from Companies House and you have not yet completed your identity verification it is important that you do so as soon as possible or face legal action and/or fines.
Despite several attempts, to date, Companies House has not yet fixed issues with processing:
Companies House will confirm with us as soon as they have resolved the issue and have pledged to issue a statement if a fix is not supplied very soon.
