Despite one of the hottest days of the year, with temperatures climbing above 36°C, our golfers took to the course with determination, enthusiasm and plenty of good humour. We’d like to say a huge thank you to every team who braved the heat to complete all 18 holes and help make this year’s Gooding Accounts Charity Golf Day another outstanding success.
One of the biggest talking points of the day came at our Beat the Pro challenge. Golfers arrived expecting to take on one of Cumberwell Park’s professional golfers, only to discover they would instead be facing Gooding Accounts’ owner and partner, non other than Sam Gooding!
Despite many of the golfers boasting considerably lower handicaps than his own, Sam was delighted that only 25 of the 116 players managed to beat him. He was more than happy to take the victory – although many of those taking on the challenge had already encountered our drinks buggies making their way around the course, keeping teams well refreshed throughout the day!
It’s safe to say Sam will be dining out on that result for quite some time, while those who beat him have earned some well-deserved bragging rights of their own.
A huge congratulations goes to our individual champion, Clint Hartley, whose outstanding performance earned him the individual title.
Congratulations also to The Floor Smith, whose fantastic team performance secured this year’s team award. A well-deserved victory after an excellent day’s golf.
We’d like to thank all of our hole sponsors, who’s generosity added a fantastic £1800 to the charity pot.
While the golf was fantastic, the true winners are the charities at the heart of the event.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who attended, we raised an amazing £XX for We Hear You (WHY) and Promise Works. Whether you bought raffle tickets, placed bids in the charity auction or simply supported the day in other ways, every contribution will help make a real difference to these two deserving charities.
Following the success of this year’s event, we’re delighted to announce that our 2027 Charity Golf Day is already in the diary.
