We’re delighted to announce that Gooding Accounts has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories at this year’s Accounting Excellence Awards.
Now celebrating their 20th year, the Accounting Excellence Awards recognise the very best in the UK accounting profession. To be shortlisted alongside so many outstanding firms and individuals is something we’re incredibly proud of.
We’re honoured to have been named finalists for Employer of the Year (Mid Tier Firm), while our founder, Sam Gooding, has been shortlisted for Practice Leader of the Year.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the end of September, and we’re looking forward to finding out whether we’ve made it into the top three. Whatever the outcome, being recognised at a national level is a fantastic achievement for the whole team, and we’d like to thank everyone who has helped us get here.
The Employer of the Year award recognises Gooding Accounts’ commitment to it’s people. From supporting career development to providing ongoing training and creating an environment where all individuals can thrive – whatever their priorities – we’re proud to be shortlisted in this category for the third year in a row. We believe that when our team has the right support and opportunities, they can deliver the best possible service for our clients across Wiltshire and the South West.
The judges were impressed with the way in which the firm takes care of it’s people with development and personal well at its core. The strong team ethic at the practice was also praised, with the whole team from their Warminster and Trowbridge offices coming together for monthly updates as well as team building days and social evenings.
Gooding Accounts’ focus on training and development for the entire team was also seen as key to our success. Gooding Training Academy has gone from strength to strength this year with more of the team training than ever before and with some outstanding exam results.
The firms dedication to providing an environment where they can provide excellence in client service was also praised, with move to a purpose fitted office space in Trowbridge identified as a huge step forward for the team and their clients alike.
This is Sam’s first time as a finalist in the Practice Leader of the Year category. The award represents Sam’s dedication to the accountancy profession, the firm, his team and their clients.
Sam has had a stand-out year, relocating the business to their new HQ on the White Horse Business Park in Trowbridge, acquiring accountancy firm Haines Watts Trowbridge along with continuing to support and grow his expert team here in Wiltshire.
A member of the QuickBooks Accounting Council Sam was also elected to the AAT Advisory Council in spring 2025, speaking at their in-person AAT Connect event as well as the Finance, Accounting & Bookkeeping Show. Through his involvement with the Accountants Growth Academy by Remarkable Practice, Sam collaborates with some of the industry’s most ambitious firms to drive innovation, profitability, and sustainable growth within the accounting sector. By embracing forward-thinking strategies and sharing best practice insights, Sam continues to strengthen the performance and long-term success of Gooding Accounts, while also contributing to the wider evolution of the profession as a whole.
Sam continues his commitment to the community with a charity golf day raising more than £12,000 in summer 2025 with 2026’s repeat event also a sell out! Sponsoring a wide range of grass-roots sports team across the whole of Wiltshire Sam’s dedication to the country remains strong.
It certainly is a well-deserved nomination and we all wish him lots of luck for the wards evening on 29th September.
