Following her success at the South West Business and Community Awards, we’re delighted to announce that Gooding Accounts’ very own Sherelyn Cowles has gone on to win the national Networker of the Year award in the Great British Business & Community Awards!
Having already been recognised as Networker of the Year at regional level, Sherelyn was entered into the national category alongside fellow winners from across the country. Taking the national title is a remarkable achievement and a fantastic recognition of Sherelyn’s passion for bringing people together and building genuine business relationships.
Sherelyn’s commitment to networking is clear. Often starting early in the morning and working through until late in the evening, she regularly attends events across Wiltshire and the wider South West.
Since taking on the role of Chief Business Development Officer at Gooding Accounts, Sherelyn spends at least 50% of her time networking and believes it is one of the key drivers of a successful accountancy practice.
But for Sherelyn, networking has never simply been about handing out business cards or promoting Gooding Accounts. It’s about people.
The judges were particularly impressed by her approach to building genuine relationships and helping business owners, rather than simply viewing networking events as an opportunity for promotion. Her friendly and approachable manner means she takes a real interest in the people she meets, creating natural conversations and relationships built on trust.
That approach has helped Sherelyn become a familiar well respected face at networking events throughout the region – now earning her national recognition.
Alongside attending numerous networking groups from Swindon to Frome and beyond, Sherelyn also launched Gooding Accounts’ first networking group, Buzz Warminster.
With the support of the Buzz franchise, Sherelyn hosts the monthly meetings in Warminster, creating a welcoming environment where local business owners can meet, make connections and support one another.
More than 65 different businesses have attended the sessions so far, with many returning month after month to continue building valuable connections with other Wiltshire businesses.
For Sherelyn, creating these opportunities for businesses to connect is just as important as the relationships she builds through the many networking groups she attends herself.
Sherelyn was presented with the national award at a ceremony in Marlow, where she celebrated this fantastic achievement in style alongside fellow Wiltshire businesses who were also attending the awards.
“I’m absolutely thrilled – and more than a little surprised – to receive this award in such a strong category. To go from winning the regional award to being recognised nationally is an incredible honour.
