Making Tax Digital (MTD) represents the biggest change to the way Income Tax Self Assessment is managed since Self Assessment was introduced more than 30 years ago.

Our Personal Tax Team has been busy preparing for these changes so that we can provide you with the advice and support you need to understand your new obligations and stay compliant.

From April 2026, Making Tax Digital became mandatory for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income of more than £50,000. From 6 April 2027, the requirements will also apply to those with qualifying income of more than £30,000, who will be required to submit quarterly digital updates.

We’re here to help you understand what these changes mean for you, make the transition as straightforward as possible, and ensure you don’t fall behind or face unnecessary penalties.

If you’re affected by the changes coming into effect in April 2027, you should soon receive a letter from HMRC explaining that you’ll need to comply with Making Tax Digital. Even if you’re not affected by the April 2027 changes, it’s important to remember that from April 2028, HMRC will be extending Making Tax Digital to even more taxpayers.

A complimentary breakfast roll plus tea and coffee is included and there’ll be a chance to ask any questions you may have to our team of experts.

If you’re already a client of Gooding Accounts our support team will be on hand following the seminar to book you a follow up appointment with your client manager.
